Description

Concavenator was discovered at the La Hoyas fossil site, near the province of Cuenca, Spain, in 2010. This unique dinosaur was an early relative of Carcharodontosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, and Giganotosaurus. Concavenator had many unique features, including extra tall vertebrae (backbones) near its hips that could have supported a hump or sail that the dinosaur may have used for display purposes. Its arms also featured structures called “quill knobs” which today are found in birds. Though research does not indicate that Concavenator had feathers, it may have had hollow quills on its arms. Concavenator lived in the Early Cretaceous Period, around 130 million years ago. It was a meat-eating dinosaur that featured unique taller vertebrae near its hips that may have supported some type of hump or sail. It could grow up to 20 feet in length Feature: - Scientific Name: Concavenator corcovatus (“Humped Hunter from Cuenca”) - Characteristics: This hand-painted, scientifically accurate Concavenator figurine is posed in a walking stance, perhaps stalking its prey. It features the dinosaur’s unique hump above its back legs. - The Concavenator is part of the Wild Safari® Prehistoric World collection Specifications: - Dimensions: 16.84 L x 3.62 W x 6.68 H - Dimensions: 6.63 L x 1.43 W x 2.63 H
